If you are interested in seeing Katie for an initial assessment and Catherine for follow ups (4 sessions) model, please email info@embodiedphysiopilates.com and we can help get you started on booking in. We are able to book your assessment in 1-3 weeks time depending on your availability.

Modalities at Embodied includes: Exercise, Education about your condition and guidelines of exercises/movements/activities that are safe, Manual therapy (joint mobilizations and manipulations with consent), taping, massage techniques and fascial release.

Group Classes

Katie Evans graduated from Queen’s University with her Masters in Science in Physical Therapy in 2010.

With her background in Manual Therapy Katie can treat a wide variety of orthopaedic disorders, and combined with a Clinical Pilates background is able to treat the body as a whole. Katie also has a keen interest in Chronic Pain and it’s relationship to multiple systems in the body, including how it affects, and be affected by movement.

She believes best results come from a patient-therapist relationship, which has to function as a team effort in improving health and quality of life. Katie understands and discusses a client’s goals as it is always crucial in creating a plan to assist someone return to their activity, maintain activity or just become pain free.

Outside of the office Katie is active in the community, snowboarding, hiking, swimming and exploring her own Pilates practice.

Jason is a physiotherapist with a diverse educational background and extensive post-graduate training. He holds a Master of Physiotherapy from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. Upon returning to Vancouver, he has worked in various private practice clinics treating orthopaedic and musculoskeletal disorders. By continually expanding his knowledge and skills through advanced education, he ensures that his clinical practice remains focused on aligning treatments that best serve his patient’s goals. Jason holds a Certificate of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (COMT) from Manual Concepts at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. He is certified in medical acupuncture (CAFCI) and Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (CGIMS). Furthermore, he has completed the Integrated Systems Model (ISM) with Diane Lee and LJ Lee, as well as the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). These approaches focus on a comprehensive approach emphasizing looking at the body as a whole system rather than focusing solely on individual symptoms or areas of pain. Jason is a Certified Level 2 Titleist Performance Institute Medical Professional. The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is renowned for its research and education on the biomechanics of the golf swing and how the human body’s physical capabilities and limitations influence golf performance. Additionally, he has completed his Clinical Pilates training through Calibrate Pilates, the Running Specialist course through The Running Clinic, CranialSacral Therapy courses through the Upledger Institute and the Neuromeningeal manipulation courses with the Barral Institute. Catherine came to Pilates following her career as a dance artist and arts administrator. It has been a natural transition to take her love of movement and the details of the human body and relay those to her clients through Pilates.

Catherine is a fully certified STOTT PILATES instructor having completed her training at Full Circle Studio in Vancouver. She has also completed training in Pain Reprocessing Therapy which provides tools for dealing with chronic pain. Her goal as an instructor is to help others connect to their bodies, understand how it works, and find more range and ease of motion to take into daily life and activity. Catherine aims to create a welcoming and encouraging environment that is inclusive of all genders, cultures, sizes, levels of ability, identification, and orientation.

Catherine earned her BFA from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) in 2005, followed by her MFA in Choreography from York University in 2013. Her graduate degree research focused around using contemporary choreography as a tool for social change. Catherine is a Co-Founder of Project: Humanity – an arts/theatre organization that uses the arts to raise social awareness with a strong emphasis on community service. She ran the company with her partners for eight years in Toronto before stepping back when she moved to Vancouver.

Catherine has over 15 years of teaching experience in a variety of forms and environments. She has taught dance in studios and schools; theatre and improvisation in the youth shelter system; group fitness in gyms and community centres; and leadership and creativity in business settings.

Catherine returned from Toronto to Vancouver where she grew up, and lives in East Van with her husband and two young sons.
